EIDOTECH Quadra — professional museum display monitor in a permanent gallery installation

Why 4:3 still matters

From the earliest television broadcasts in the 1930s through the early 2000s, virtually all moving-image content was produced in 4:3 or closely related classical formats. This includes over seven decades of television archives, documentary footage, early digital video, surveillance recordings and a large body of video art created between the 1960s and 1990s.

Since the consumer display market has moved entirely to 16:9 widescreen panels, institutions face a growing problem: there are virtually no professional-grade 4:3 monitors available for purchase. As a result, archival and art content is routinely shown with black bars, cropped edges or distorted geometry — none of which are acceptable in a professional exhibition context.

Quadra addresses this gap directly. It is a purpose-built 4:3 display for museum collections and video art — designed to present classical-format content exactly as it was created, without compromise, workaround or visual degradation.

For museums, archives and galleries, correct image geometry is not a feature — it is the baseline requirement for credible, faithful presentation.

Designed for institutions

Quadra is a turnkey exhibition display system — not a bare panel or component, but a finished, exhibition-ready product. It avoids consumer features that complicate long-term installation planning.

Its minimalist form never competes with the content on screen. The industrial metal enclosure with matte finish blends into any environment, while the anti-glare screen surface eliminates reflections, ensuring consistent image quality under any lighting conditions. Unpack it, mount it, connect it — Quadra is ready to exhibit from day one.

Technical overview

Quadra is a 4:3 professional monitor designed as a dedicated display device — without embedded operating systems or consumer-grade ecosystems. Content can be driven from an external source (computer, media player, signage controller) via HDMI, or played directly from the built-in media player. This makes Quadra a fully self-contained exhibition system — ready to operate independently, without any additional hardware.

FAQ
Do you show pricing publicly?
No. Quadra is supplied in limited series with project-based pricing. We provide purchase and rental offers on request.
Can it run content without a computer?
Yes. Quadra has a built-in media player capable of playing video files directly from USB storage. For simple playback scenarios — such as looping a single video or a playlist — no external computer is required. For more complex setups involving synchronisation, scheduling or interactive control, we recommend an external media source via HDMI.
Is rental available outside Poland?
Yes, depending on project scope and logistics. Tell us your location and dates — we will confirm availability.
What is the largest 4:3 display available?
At 40.3 inches, Quadra is the largest native 4:3 professional display currently available on the market. Other 4:3 panels on the market typically range from 19 to 35 inches and are designed as components for arcade cabinets, not as finished exhibition displays.
Can Quadra replace a Hantarex, Barco or Selti CRT?
Yes. Quadra is designed as a modern replacement for iconic large-format CRT and plasma monitors — including models by Hantarex, Barco, Selti, Hitachi and Pioneer — without the bulk, maintenance issues or limited lifespan of legacy technology.
Does Quadra require a custom enclosure?
No. Quadra is a turnkey, exhibition-ready product with an industrial metal enclosure and anti-glare screen. It can be placed directly in a gallery or exhibition space — no custom housing or additional assembly required.
What formats and resolutions does Quadra support?
Quadra accepts any HDMI signal and displays it in native 4:3 geometry at 1908×1430 resolution. Its built-in USB media player includes a scaler for legacy formats, allowing direct playback of archival and historic video content.
What is included in the delivery?
Quadra is delivered with an HDMI cable, power cable, remote control, user manual and EU conformity documentation. The monitor is packed in a reinforced carton designed for safe transport.
How is Quadra mounted?
Quadra supports standard VESA wall mounting. It can also be placed on a flat surface using an optional stand, or integrated into custom AV furniture. Mounting hardware is not included — we recommend professional installation for permanent exhibitions.
Can I use Quadra for continuous 24/7 operation?
Yes. Quadra is designed for continuous operation in museum and exhibition environments. The panel and electronics are rated for extended use without scheduled downtime.
What video connections does Quadra have?
Quadra has one HDMI input for connecting external sources such as media players, computers or AV systems. It also has a USB port for direct playback of video files from a USB drive using the built-in media player.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes. We ship worldwide. Delivery terms, lead times and logistics are arranged individually depending on destination and project scope. Contact us for details.
Can I see Quadra before purchasing?
Yes. We offer on-site demonstrations and can arrange a viewing at our locations in Warsaw, Poland and Berlin, Germany. For international clients, we can provide a video call walkthrough or ship a demo unit subject to availability.
Is Quadra suitable for outdoor exhibitions?
Quadra is designed for indoor use only. It is not weatherproof and should not be exposed to direct sunlight, rain or extreme temperatures. For outdoor installations, we recommend a protective enclosure with climate control.

About Quadra

EIDOTECH Quadra is a 4:3 professional monitor purpose-built for institutions that need accurate format presentation. At 40.3″, it is the largest native 4:3 professional display currently available on the market. As a dedicated museum display monitor, Quadra fills the gap left by discontinued CRT equipment and early 4:3 plasma displays — of which only a handful of units survive today, typically in poor condition. It is designed to serve the same role as iconic large-format 4:3 plasma monitors such as the Hantarex PD 40, Hitachi CMP307 and Pioneer PDP‑V402 — models that are no longer manufactured and increasingly difficult to maintain. Quadra serves as a modern CRT replacement display, offering a viable alternative to iconic CRT brands such as Hantarex, Barco and Selti — without the bulk, maintenance issues or limited lifespan of legacy cathode-ray and plasma technology.

Unlike bare 4:3 LCD panels available on the market — typically designed as components for arcade cabinets and requiring custom enclosures — Quadra is a complete, turnkey display system: exhibition-ready out of the box, with an industrial metal enclosure, anti-glare screen and professional-grade build quality. Whether used as a display for video art in a gallery, a display for video installation in a museum, or a 4:3 display for museum archives — Quadra delivers native 4:3 geometry at 1908×1430 resolution, ensuring that historic content is shown without black bars, cropping or aspect-ratio distortion. Developed in collaboration with exhibition designers and museum curators, it is the professional answer to a market dominated by consumer 16:9 panels.
